Infertility: Why you may be looking in the wrong place

pregnant-woman-1910302__340You desperately want to get pregnant but nothing seems to be working right…you just keep struggled to get pregnant? You have experienced 1,2, even 3 miscarriages.

Pregnancy complications, infertility issues and the use of assisted reproductive technology are increasing all over the world. Why is becoming harder to do something that is supposed to be so natural?

Pregnancy complications, infertility issues and the use of assisted reproductive technology are increasing all over the world. Why is becoming harder to do something that is supposed to be so natural? For the last few decades, the rate of infertility in the United States has increased. Infertility is defined as not being able to get pregnant (conceive) after one year of trying. It has been estimated that between 16 and 25% of all couples have serious difficulty getting pregnant. Approximately 7.4% of women and their husbands in the United States are infertile and that the number of infertile people in the world may be as high as 15%, particularly in industrialized nations like the United States.

Growing technology and accessibility in the field of genetic testing has provided a new avenue to support fertility patients. Using cutting science and nutrigenomics is it possible to create a plan that will help you feed your genes and increase your fertility… BUT my doctor has already tested me for MTHFR and I don’t have it…There are many more genes and nutritional factors at play when it comes to fertility. There are a number of gene variations to examine and it’s important not to limit these to just those associated directly with fertility. In my practice, it is important to consider the whole person, from hormonal balance, stress and mood, nutritional requirements of the mother and the growing fetus, optimal gut microbiome, and function, to blood pressure and exposure to environmental toxins.

Optimizing your methylation cycle and mitochondrial health is essential for both men and women in the preconception period. Nutrigenomics is the practice of optimizing our genetics through lifestyle factors such as nutrition, exercise, and toxin exposure. Through these changes, you can optimize your genetic expression (epigenetics) for enhanced fertility.

The methylation cycle is a biochemical pathway that influences detoxification, immune function, inflammation, healthy DNA, neurotransmitter functions and energy production. This dramatically affects the health of ovaries and sperm and may lead to infertility if not optimal.

When our methylation cycle starts to break down, we have a harder time filtering environmental stressors needed to detoxify and rebuild. This is why lowered methylation function can contribute to miscarriages, infertility challenges for women and men, problems in pregnancy, autism spectrum disorders, mood, and psychiatric disorders, cancer, immune system, digestive problems, allergies, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, neurological conditions, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Alzheimer’s disease and suboptimal aging.

Mitochondria are the powerhouse of our cells and provide energy to the cells in the form of ATP. As we age and are exposed to more oxidative stress and environmental toxins, our mitochondria become damaged. This accumulation of mitochondrial DNA damage in eggs and sperm will ultimately reduce our fertility as we age.

The Pregnancy Protocol is a method developed by me to help you discover your unique pattern of imbalance through functional testing and nutrigenomics. I am a what you would call a health detective who looks for the factor’s others don’t.

The Pregnancy Protocol involves personalized evaluation, blood tests, nutrigenomics, and other biochemical tests to determine the root cause of your infertility. After determining the imbalances contributing to your infertility, you are given a personalized plan and education for optimizing your cellular health and increasing your fertility.

The result is optimal fertility, a happier pregnancy, and a healthier, happier baby.

This method differs from other methods in that I help you to look for and find causes of infertility at a biochemical, nutritional and constitutional level. This method optimizes your body’s health and prepares you for a healthy, successful pregnancy and beyond.

I am a wellness detective that partners with you in your fertility journey, guiding you through a nutrition and lifestyle plan that optimizes you, your partner and your baby.
