About Dr. Piper Gibson, PhD

Mom. Researcher. Functional Medicine Practitioner. Founder of Regenerating Health.

Before I was helping families professionally, I was a mother trying to help my own child.

Like many parents who find us, I spent years searching for answers. What began as a tic disorder diagnosis eventually became a much larger journey involving sensory challenges, focus and attention difficulties, emotional and behavioral symptoms, digestive concerns, and a growing list of questions that never seemed to fit neatly into one diagnosis.

We visited specialists, followed recommendations, tried medications, and spent years hoping someone could explain why these symptoms were happening in the first place. Despite all of our effort, I often felt like important pieces of the puzzle were still missing.

Over time, I began noticing something that changed the way I viewed my son’s health entirely. The symptoms we were experiencing did not seem to exist in isolation. What appeared to be separate challenges often seemed connected in ways nobody was helping us understand. The more I looked at his story, the more I found myself asking a different question:

What if these symptoms were part of a larger pattern?

That question changed the direction of my life.

Determined to find answers, I returned to school and immersed myself in the study of functional medicine, nutrition, genetics, neuroscience, systems biology, and environmental health. What started as a mother’s search for understanding eventually became a lifelong passion and the foundation for the work we do today at Regenerating Health.

Through both personal experience and professional training, I came to understand that the body functions as an interconnected system. The nervous system does not operate independently from the gut. The immune system does not operate independently from inflammation. Sleep, nutrition, genetics, environmental stressors, and nervous system regulation influence one another in ways that are often overlooked when symptoms are viewed separately.

Today, my team and I help families who are navigating many of the same questions my own family once faced. Many of the children we work with experience symptoms such as tics, anxiety, OCD tendencies, sensory sensitivities, emotional dysregulation, sleep challenges, digestive concerns, attention difficulties, or PANS/PANDAS-related symptoms. Many families have already tried multiple therapies, diets, supplements, medications, or interventions and still feel uncertain about what may be contributing underneath the surface.

Our goal is not simply to focus on symptoms. Our goal is to help families better understand the patterns that may be influencing those symptoms so they can make more informed decisions about the path forward.

At Regenerating Health, we use a root-cause functional medicine approach that combines clinical history, symptom timelines, functional lab testing, genetics, and systems-based investigation to help families gain greater clarity about their child’s unique story. Every child is different, and every child deserves an approach that reflects that.

One of the greatest privileges of my work is helping families feel seen, understood, and supported as they navigate complex health challenges. I believe that when symptoms do not fully make sense, parents deserve more than reassurance.

They deserve understanding.
