About Dr. Piper Gibson, PhD
Mom. Researcher. Functional Medicine Practitioner. Founder of Regenerating Health.
Before I was helping families professionally, I was a mother desperately trying to help my own child. My son developed tics at a young age, and like many parents, I was told what he had but not why it was happening. Over time, the challenges grew beyond tics alone. We navigated sensory issues, attention and focus difficulties, emotional and behavioral symptoms, digestive concerns, sleep challenges, and a growing list of questions that never seemed to fit neatly into a single diagnosis.
We visited specialists. We followed recommendations. We tried therapies, medications, and countless approaches in hopes of finding answers. Despite all of that effort, I often felt like important pieces of the puzzle were still missing. What changed everything for me was realizing that many of the symptoms my son was experiencing did not seem isolated from one another. They appeared connected in ways nobody was helping us understand.
The more I looked at his story, the more I found myself asking a different question:
What if these symptoms were part of a larger pattern?
That question ultimately changed the course of my life. Determined to better understand what I was seeing, I returned to school and devoted myself to studying functional medicine, nutrition, genetics, neuroscience, environmental health, and systems biology. What began as a mother’s search for answers eventually became a lifelong passion and the foundation for the work we do today.
Today, I have the privilege of helping families who are navigating many of the same questions my own family once faced. Many of the children we work with experience tics, anxiety, OCD tendencies, sensory sensitivities, emotional dysregulation, sleep challenges, digestive concerns, attention difficulties, or PANS/PANDAS-related symptoms. Some families are just beginning to ask questions. Others have spent years searching for answers and still feel like they are missing part of the story.
At Regenerating Health, we believe parents deserve more than a diagnosis and more than reassurance that symptoms will simply improve with time. They deserve a thoughtful investigation into the patterns, history, and potential contributors that may be influencing their child’s health. Our role is to help families better understand those patterns so they can move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and direction.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is helping parents feel seen, understood, and supported during what is often one of the most challenging seasons of their lives. When symptoms do not fully make sense, families deserve more than answers that stop at the surface. They deserve understanding.
